Bangkok Get’s a New, Chic Restaurant with Alex Brasserie

Bangkok (Thailand) – April 9, 2017 (travelindex.com) – After the Bistro-mania that shook up Bangkok’s dining scene during the past decade, a distinctly new wave of culinary thrills comes to the City of Angels with the Brasserie! The busy nightlife of Sukhumvit Soi 11 will glitter with a new address added to its chic and multi-cultural dining scene with the Grand Opening of Alex Brasserie, a fun and innovative Brasserie establishment which combines restaurant and bar in a dual level of professionalism, creativity and passion that gives Bangkok urbanites the quality and conviviality they have long desired, at a fair price.

Set in 570 sq m of space with an intriguing industrial loft style decor, Alex Brasserie brings together the best components of a restaurant, a bar and a lounge with a delight, fully creative chef de cuisine, a well experienced bartender and a talented retinue of professional musicians.

The unique design of the venue, inspired by an art-de-vivre which is truly French, features indoor and outdoor seating about 170 comfortable seats with a majestic bar in the center offering panoramic views of the creative surroundings. In every direction, the grey concrete and metal are complemented with warm wood and burgundy colored leather in a New York industrial loft style interior replete with French touches added here and there, making for a relaxed yet stylish venue for a satisfying meal or drinks with friends. The cuisine is delicious and upfront, unveiling (almost) all of its secrets with the ten-strong cooking team passionately working behind windows in the dining section.

The kitchen is managed by French chef Arnaud Drouvillé, who lately served as Executive chef in the Bangkok kitchen of the famous Iron Chef, Masaharu Morimoto. The menu goes from vibrant French cuisine to creative fusion, with authentic homemade dishes.

Naturally gifted in the Mediterranean flavours -closest to the Thai taste in the French gastronomic repertoire Arnaud made himself famous in Thailand by building culinary bridges between international cuisine and the Thai palate. His best known signature dishes include the Carpaccio De Boeuf, a dish inspired by the famous Morimoto’s Tuna pizza, with beef Carpaccio replacing tuna, with the skillful and delicious addition of savoury pesto and local spices.

Arnaud has also put a selection of creative temptations on the menu, such as a restyled Vietnamese salad, with Thai spicy pork (Nam Tok Moo) stuffed spring-rolls. Not to be missed is the veal steak with ham, Swiss cheese, mushrooms, homemade veal stock and potatoes, all baked together — a recipe Arnaud brought back from Paris. However, the signature superstar is definitely the Beef Short Ribs, a 1.5 kg serving of juicy red meat slowly cooked in vacuum for 48 hours with rosemary, salt and pepper, and served with mustard, pickles, berries and more, involving a traditional process which has travelled through the centuries to different parts of the world, such as Spain, Louisiana and Scandinavia. This little feast is perfect for two persons who happen to be true meat lovers or three or four for a standard sharing.

As for tantalizing desserts, Chef Arnaud takes full advantage of the opportunity for artistic expression that enhances the connection between the eye and the palate, as he paints your plate with colorful fruit sauces, sculpting mouth-watering shapes with homemade ice cream, chocolate or pastries.

The menu comes at a reasonable price with an average of less than 1,000 baht per person and a set lunch put at about 300 +++ baht.

“Our concept proposes fine dining that is accessible to everyone. Nowadays, lots of quality products are attainable at a good price in Bangkok. We can make a living while providing good cuisine that isn’t overly expensive,” says Arnaud, giving priority to locally made products or available imported products to compose his menu, which is to be renewed and updated every three months.

The bar offers five spectacular signature cocktails concocted by experienced bartenders completely in line with the restaurant’s French spirit, going hand-in-hand with a selection of sensibly priced spirits, Champagnes, imported and local beers, wines and your favourite classic cocktails.

Ambiance at Alex Brasserie has also been planned with care. Guests will be delighted to discover that it features a DJ booth and high quality sound system, offering the chill-out sounds of top local DJs every night from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM. Regular features House & Nu-Disco during Friday – Saturday and Hip Hop and R&B on Sundays.

Although decidedly a restaurant with gourmet offerings, Alex Brasserie’s hybrid setting has been designed to completely satisfy the city’s night owls who are looking for a fun experience after dinner.
